The apartment is situated in a grand old block on the corner of Milton & Beach Roads, in Sea Point. The words interesting, achingly cool and unexpectedly chic come to mind when considering this comfortable abode.
The three bedroomed pied-a-terre is designed to maximize both entertaining and privacy by keeping the bedrooms in the rear of the apartment.
The owners live overseas and appointed good friends architects Paul Mikula and Simone Lefevre , to transform the apartment. Working together they created the ultimate lock up and go holiday home. The open plan design allowed for dynamic spatial resolution of the living area .
The original parquet timber floors were stripped, refinished and laid in a herringbone design. The interior choices and combinations are reflections of the love of African art and people who know the value of good local design with a carefully curated collection of art, furniture and ceramics including multiple photographic pieces by Durban artist Jane Bedford.
As part of the revamp all windows were replaced with new Reynaers products by Metal Windows. The brief was for large scale windows to maximize the views. To achieve this and still maintain safety standards, Larry designed a short frameless glass balustrade in front of each of the aluminium windows. Reynaers aluminium systems are imported from Europe by Metal Windows and customized to fit the clients design aesthetic.
