The Waterfront Theatre School

The Waterfront Theatre School opened its doors in 1992, and quickly became known as the ‘fame school’ based on its reputation for producing triple theatre performers who could sing, dance and act.

Fast forward to 2018, and the V&A Waterfront Holding Company decided it was time to return the Sir Herbert Baker building, built in 1901 to its original look.

Trudy Botes of Metal Windows worked with the Waterfront company to complete both Phases 1 & 2, on all facades of the two buildings,  over a period of two years returning this beautiful historical building to its former glory. Original wooden windows were serviced, maintained and repaired.  Metal Windows also “replaced to match” existing windows and hard ware,  where we could not repair. Steel windows were replaced & where we could, we serviced and repaired.

Trudy Botes of Metal Windows  worked directly with Directors of the Waterfront Theatre Company & Galloway Theatre School, Delia Sainsbury, Paul Griffiths & Jenna Galloway to assist with smooth running and to ensure that there was minimal disruption to the school’s timetable whilst our team was on site.

Under his watchful eye, Heritage Architect, Trevor Thorold oversaw that all work complied with The Cape Heritage council in bringing this beautiful historical building to its former glory.

The Waterfront Theatre School is South Africa’s Premier Training Institute of Excellence in the Performing Arts.   As an established leader in the field, The Waterfront Theatre School continues to observe closely the diversity of skills required by young people to begin and navigate a sustainable career within the Creative Industry.
