The house had really good energy but, needed an update. We removed the white timber cottage pane windows and doors and replaced them with larger pane black steel Forman Brand systems to increase the light ingress and give the house a more contemporary feel. Light enters the house from every angle, pouring in through the huge glass doors overlooking the beautiful garden and pool area, unusual in Cape Town’s southern suburbs, located in the shadow of Table Mountain.
With a love for entertaining, multiple open-plan entertaining areas were created. The ease of flow from inside to outside, is seamless. Each space having its own unique character but fitting into the greater eclectic theme – that is this home. Clear laminated safety glass was used in all units except in areas that required greater privacy reeded glass panes were specified.
Our client also enclosed her front verandah on two sides, using the same steel F7 system with even larger panes. Tracy-Lee from Freddo Awnings added a shading blind down the third side to manage the glare of the afternoon sun and create a cozy space for chilly days.
